Welcome To Feeding The Valley Online
Welcome:
It is my pleasure to welcome you to our website. For more than 25 years, the mission of Feeding the Valley has been to gather and distribute food to people in need throughout Columbus, Georgia and its surrounding region. Our organization officially changed its name on February 1, 2009 from Second Harvest Food Bank of the Chattahoochee Valley to Feeding the Valley, because we believe Feeding the Valley more directly conveys our core mission of feeding the hungry in our area.
Our tag line, "The Bounty of Second Harvest," continues to remind us of why we are called to do this work. The idea of a second harvest for the poor comes from the following biblical text in Leviticus:
When you harvest your crops on your land, do not harvest all the way to the corners of your fields. If grain falls onto the ground, don't gather it up. Don't pick all the grapes in your vineyards, and don't pick up the grapes that fall to the ground. You must leave those things for poor people and for people traveling through your country. I am the Lord Your God. Leviticus 19:9-10 (New Century Version)
Our food bank gathers that "second harvest" from the abundance of generous food donors and strong community support which in turn reaches out to our neighbors in need. I invite you to join me in being a fellow gatherer by making a donation of food, funds or volunteer support. We value your prayers as we continue in this good work.
